We recently had the opportunity to welcome Sasank Vemana, Director of PeopleTools Strategy at Oracle, back to the PeopleSoft Connection Podcast to discuss the exciting new capabilities in PeopleTools 8.63 and how organizations can take advantage of these innovations to modernize their PeopleSoft environments.

One of the highlights of our conversation was how Oracle is making it easier for customers to integrate AI into PeopleSoft. With the introduction of the Natural Language Search Service and Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server support, organizations can connect their AI solutions to PeopleSoft, allowing users to interact with their data through natural language. Imagine being able to ask for a list of unapproved timesheets or overdue vendors without having to navigate multiple pages or run a query. These capabilities open the door to rethinking how we perform everyday tasks and how AI can help simplify our business processes.

Sasank also shared several enhancements designed to improve the user experience, including semantic search, typo tolerance, and more dynamic landing pages. Users will be able to search using everyday language rather than remembering exact terminology, while landing pages can present relevant information and activities when they are needed. For developers, the new App Designer AI Assist capabilities provide opportunities to better understand existing PeopleCode, troubleshoot issues, and improve development efficiency.

Another exciting feature is the ability to configure AI-related actions directly alongside text fields using the enhanced Related Actions framework. This provides opportunities to incorporate AI assistance into existing business processes without having to customize the underlying PeopleSoft pages. Oracle is also strengthening security through native SAML 2.0 single sign-on support and time-based one-time password authentication, helping organizations improve security while reducing the need for custom solutions.

One of my biggest takeaways from our conversation was the importance of looking at a PeopleTools upgrade as more than just a technical project. These new capabilities provide an opportunity to revisit how our organizations operate, identify repetitive work, improve the user experience, and take advantage of technology that may not have been available when our existing processes were originally designed.

PeopleTools 8.63 is another example of Oracle’s continued investment in PeopleSoft and its commitment to helping customers get more value from their existing systems.
