This session is based on an experience with a customer that used third party scanning tools to detect that several key WebLogic patches were not in place. Specifically the version they currently had installed was no longer supported by Oracle. This lack of support indicates that Oracle is not obligated to release new security patches. As a result, it is likely to contain security vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious agents. The process to upgrade to the latest version of WebLogic will be discussed and clear documentation will be provided to help customers with this complex process. We will discuss making sure customers are on the latest version 12.2.1.4. This upgrade process is not well documented and includes information that may lack clarity. Attend to learn best practices and see a step by step explanation to avoid common pitfalls.

Objectives

Learn about why it is critical to stay up to date with all the latest critical patch updates for WebLogic and EnterpriseOne

Learn the upgrade and patching process and how to avoid pitfalls

Case study demonstration of how to apply la security patch to WebLogic for all servers, including Deployment Server

Create an Orchestration to use data input to create a file in a label format and then drop the file to a print server. Create a form extension button to call the Orchestration mapping data from the grid as input. Selecting one of more grid row records to produce and print a label from within JDE. Specific example is using P42101 W42101C to select multiple rows to produce a custom label for boxes during the shipping process.

JD Edwards environments can be exposed to risk by using outdated security standards and configurations such as SSL 3.0/TLS 1.0/TLS1.1. This leaves passwords without encryption which opens the door for malicious software to steal a password. Learn how to enable highly secure protocols and disable legacy protocols for both Testing and Production environments. Attendees will be shown a case study of using Weblogic 12G while reusing an existing Wild Card certificate to secure a JD Edwards environment using the latest security protocols, and what kind of impact this upgrade will have on performance. This session has been updated to include new details on using HTTPS support for AIS, BSSV and Orchestrator.

Objectives

Learn about the latest HTTPS security protocols for JD Edwards

Understand the related risks of using out-dated protocols for both Production and Testing environments

Case study demonstration of how to apply latest protocols to JD Edwards environment for all server types
