Implementing Oracle Naming Service in Microsoft AD LDS Cluster

This lecture presents a centralized, secure and high available LDAP based Oracle naming service solution we developed and implemented in one major Canadian Bank capital market devision. It goes in-depth on how to extend Oracle context in Microsoft Lightweight Directory Service (LDS), load Oracle TNS entries to AD LDS in batch, manage TNS entries in AD LDS via either ADSI interface, Oracle Net Manager or command line utilities, and how any Oracle client/application can take advantage of this LDAP based Oracle naming service. It then demonstrates how to replicate Oracle context bidirectional in AD LDS cluster, and day to day management and administrator delegation, Oracle context reporting, backup, restoration and migration.

Demonstrations on uninterrupted Oracle naming service in the event of node failure and transparency to applications during database migration are included.
