Hosted by Brooke Repine and Stephen Valentine

Hello, PeopleSoft Community!

We had the pleasure of speaking with Joe Willever, Oracle PeopleSoft Product Manager, about one of the most powerful yet underutilized tools in the PeopleSoft suite — the Page and Field Configurator (PFC). Joe joined us on The PeopleSoft Connection podcast to share how this feature continues to evolve and help organizations eliminate costly customizations, strengthen audit controls, and empower business analysts to take more ownership of configuration.

Simplifying Configuration and Reducing Customizations

PFC was designed to remove the need for many traditional customizations — hiding fields, changing labels, applying defaults — and it’s done just that. As Joe explained, “Page and Field Configurator was originally created to eliminate your most common customizations.” What started as a simple interface tool has now expanded to include data masking, change tracking, and real-time notifications.

Getting Started with PFC

For those ready to begin, Joe suggests starting small:

“Think about what customizations you have currently and look to replace them. Start off simple — make a few label changes or hide fields for specific roles. Then build from there.”

He also recommends two key resources:

  • Tutorials on the PeopleSoft Help Center, which walk step-by-step through setup and security.
  • Advisor Webcasts on My Oracle Support, which offer real examples and demonstrations of change tracking and notification integration.

Stay Current, Stay Connected

Joe reminded us that Oracle’s goal is to help customers stay current and reduce technical debt. He encouraged users to share ideas through the PeopleSoft Idea Space, where customer feedback helps shape the roadmap for future PFC enhancements.

At both Milton Hershey School and Samaritan’s Purse, we’ve seen firsthand how features like PFC strengthen user confidence, streamline workflows, and support mission-driven operations. Behind every great PeopleSoft system is a community committed to sharing knowledge — and this episode captures that perfectly.
