For the last 6 months, we have transitioned our JDE IT team of analysts and developers from a purely ticket support model to an Agile model, with daily standups, a backlog, User Stories, and capacity planning. We are by no means perfect, but this new way of working together and with the business has helped us to better collaborate with our team and with our business partners to prioritize work and focus on what the organization needs most. We’d like to share some lessons learned in hopes that others can benefit from our experience in supporting their JDE Users.

JD Edwards E1 Fixed Assets is a robust product that provides not only the ability to track and depreciate your company's assets, but also serves as the foundation for other related modules such as Service and Warranty Management or Equipment and Plant Maintenance.

Frequently Fixed Asset duties get assigned to a staff accountant who can become quickly overwhelmed with the differences in functionality and the intricacies of Fixed Assets accounting vs. General Ledger accounting.

This review will discuss the JD Edwards Fixed Assets system as a true Subledger and its unique features. Common misunderstandings, its unique architecture and functionality will be detailed in terms of the differences accounting personnel will need to be aware of in their day to day work.

Edwards Day One" was developed together with the CFO of a "JDE" customer, and a professor at the Graduate School of Management of Kansas State University to provide students with a hands-on introduction to ERP using Oracle's EnterpriseOne as the example software.  We will be the panel, perhaps with some additional guests.

This talk will show you the type of pre-recorded, on-line course materials and approach for this 15 lesson class that covers an intro to ERP, UX-One, and follows a sample company through GL/JC, Procurement/AP, Inventory, Sales/AR, and back to reporting and an intro to Digital Transformation.

Project-based customers have looked to JD Edwards Job Status Inquiry application for real-time manager and executive-level assessment of the financial status of projects including budgets, actuals, and forecasts. Available now is a new, more flexible, and functional version of Job Status Inquiry that supports the need for real-time analysis of financials with associated billings for not only single projects but across multiple projects.  This new Project Inquiry reduces the time it takes to review detailed and roll-up views of projects and allows project managers to identify issues and opportunities early in the project.

The chart of accounts in JDE leverages category codes to facilitate management and analytical reporting. These category codes are traditionally defined in a model and then replicated to all the business units needing these category codes.

There are several situations where the level of detail in the chart of accounts is not sufficient to facilitate the required analytical reporting. For example, detailed analysis by product and/or clients can be required in the G/L because it is not possible to gather the information from other JDE modules like Sales or Inventory.

JDE provides the Advanced Cost Accounting module to enable the capture of detailed data in the G/L without requiring changes to the chart of accounts and without impacting your traditional financial reporting.
