Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center transformed their PeopleSoft platform over the past decade. This session will focus on the past few years and our adoption of Fluid, and how our approach evolved over time. We first rolled out Fluid with our HCM 9.2 upgrade in 2016. Our initial homepages had very few tiles – a few delivered plus several navigation collections built using tile wizard – and we prevented users from personalizing. Little by little we introduced new tiles and capabilities – including pivot charts/grids (actionable analytics) – then started allowing users to personalize their own landing page. We also took advantage of the easy and powerful branding framework to enhance the look and feel of our applications and further improve the user experience.

With today’s technology, IT Security and ease of access are in constant conflict. On one hand, data must be kept safe from unauthorized individuals, especially in the world of SOX applications where data is extremely confidential; on the other, there is the desire to make technology as easy to use as possible. This is a conflict that I personally faced when completing our PeopleSoft upgrade to 9.2, with the intention to make use of the mobile capabilities. The biggest struggle came from the mobile suite that our company utilizes to control our company phones. This suite required employees to log into that suite using their network credentials, resulting in double authentication for the mobile PeopleSoft application. We wanted to find a way to not only maintain the company’s security needs, but also make the application as convenient as possible for users. To do this, I implemented Single-Sign On capability utilizing the company’s .NET framework and PeopleSoft’s built-in login logic.
