Ok, so you’ve decided to take on a major project within your EnterpriseOne environment. Whether it’s an upgrade, a new module or a major overhaul – you must apply these guidelines to ensure success. Forget about “best practices,” you need real, practical techniques that involve the entire project team. During this session, we will discuss the 5 most important principles of managing your project, how to apply them to any size / scope and how they were effectively leveraged on a real (and very successful) EnterpriseOne upgrade project. In addition to the things you should be doing on your project, we will highlight some key things that your Project Manager should NOT be doing.

Objectives

The top 5 things you should be doing to manage your project.

Let's discuss the famous phrase: Plan the Work, Work the Plan.

With 19c we get the tiny little command line tool that will allow us to update our databases "hands free".  We can do all the prechecks, fix 99% of pre update issues and then do the update and finally the post update all without our manual little fingers on the keyboard, well almost no little fingers on the keyboard.  Wait there is more, it is not all for just Database 19c we can use this on prior versions like 18.5 and new as well as 12c Release 2 (12.2 + DBJAN2019RU and newer)

Facing expiring support, non-standardized processes, under-utilized functionality, and an obsolete chart of accounts and security module chart of accounts, the Alameda County Water District (ACWD) made substantial changes to their JD Edwards ERP system.  The move presented not only significant technical challenges, but procedural and cultural challenges, as well.  Broad organizational changes are not only demanding, but are frequently accompanied by skepticism about the likelihood of success.  Due to planning and hard work, the result would be greater efficiency and cost-cutting at exactly the time ACWD would need them the most – in the middle of a drought and severe water shortage that would significantly impact revenue.
