Presented at Quest Experience Week (QXW) – Cloud Day

The cloud era is upon us. Many businesses are transitioning to cloud-based solutions to run their core systems. Third-party providers are also increasingly delivering their solutions via the cloud. Those companies strong on cloud technology hold a decided edge over competitors. Though these new approaches are not yet widely publicized, they can offer incredible benefits to your business when deployed effectively by cloud experts.

For over 15 years, Avalara has been at the forefront of cloud-based software delivery. Leveraging IAAS/PAAS concepts, it has developed cutting edge cloud-to-cloud capabilities that allow a truly seamless integration using deployment automation, testing, and management of tax compliance requirements.

In this session, you will learn how Avalara’s expanding global tax compliance capabilities that reside on the new OCI based framework results in a true end-to-end automated tax technology solution available for Oracle ERP Cloud.

As part of Quest Forum Digital Event: Cloud Week, Sharon Perkins from Yum! Brands and Chris Costakes from Elire, Inc. presented on Yum! Brands' Oracle HCM Cloud integration methodologies. The pair provided overviews of several different services, highlighted reasons that Yum! Brands made the choices they did, and provided example use cases.

During Quest Forum Digital Event: Cloud Week, Sandra Cheevers, Senior Director of Cloud Product Marketing at Oracle, gave a presentation on how to start your journey to the cloud by starting from where you are.

With the help of SpearMC and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, First Financial Northwest Bank (FFNWB) migrated their accounting, asset management, and accounts payable functions to PeopleSoft FSCM in four months — all with minimal internal resources and no in-house infrastructure.  Come learn how OCI enabled this rapid implementation and supports efficient production support.

CHALLENGE PRESENTED: FFNWB’s Financial Accounting Solution was not scaling with their needs. It was slow, lacked security and functionality, and left their team powerless to enhance the system or add new features.

PROPOSED SOLUTION: SpearMC guided FFNWB through the process of migrating to PeopleSoft on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This new solution includes scalable computing power and storage, disaster recovery, and network-to-network connectivity.

Setting up Cloud Environments using the Web UI is only the second-best option. The method of choice is Scripting. While HashiCorps Terraform has become the lingua franca for defining large setups, it appears to be a bit unwieldy for small changes. Oracle provides the OCI Command Line Interface (CLI) as OpenSource on GitHub, which is ideal for those small changes.

This talk introduces to Scripting with the OCI CLI. It walks through the process of setting it up. A quick orientation is followed by a deep dive in the command line and JSON Parameters. Tips and Tricks as well as common caveats an how to avoid them lead to the conclusion. The presentation contains a live demo. All Demos are available for download.
