Printpack, an Atlanta-based manufacturer of flexible and rigid packaging, faced challenges in effectively communicating production data from its contract manufacturers. This study presents the implementation of technology and integration solutions to streamline the contract manufacturing process.
Methodology included the development of an internet portal, file integration systems, and the implementation of barcode labeling. Results show significant improvements in visibility and traceability of the manufacturing process, with an increase in data accuracy and a reduction in processing time. This study demonstrates how targeted technological solutions can overcome communication challenges in contract manufacturing, leading to improved efficiency and accuracy in the packaging industry.
The research addressed three main objectives:
Objective 1: Provide flexible data communication options for vendors
Objective 2: Improve material packaging and labeling for enhanced inventory management
Objective 3: Increase production data accuracy for improved payment validation

Printpack, a leading flexible and rigid packaging manufacturer based in Atlanta, identified a critical need to enhance its core manufacturing and distribution processes following years of JDE E1 implementation across all facilities. A key area for improvement was the shipping process, which was manual, time-intensive, and prone to errors, particularly due to the company's complex license plate number (LPN) environment.
To address these operational challenges, Printpack established three primary objectives:
Objective 1: Develop a flexible shipping solution allowing warehouse personnel to dynamically manage LPNs on loads, thereby eliminating the need for reverse shipping.
Objective 2: Implement a system for on-demand generation of all shipping documents to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Objective 3: Introduce automation to boost user productivity, minimize human errors, and mitigate operational risks.
By focusing on these objectives, Printpack aimed to significantly improve its shipping processes, leading to increased operational efficiencies and reduced costs across the organization.

The phrase “Continuous Adoption” with your JDE software for some seems daunting because it sounds to most people as “Upgrading”. This strikes many with apprehension and concern rather than excitement to be on the latest/greatest Oracle has to offer in JD Edwards. Norman’s Nursery will share with you firsthand how this doesn’t have to be thought of as “upgrading” but as “staying current” on JD Edwards. Norman’s Nursery will also discuss the concerns most companies have related custom objects and the project ‘cycle’ itself for these Code Current / Tools Updates versus the traditional "Upgrades”. Besides hearing from Norman’s Nursery about why they stay current, get a year-by-year synopsis of EnterpriseOne 9.2 since 2015.
