Quest Oracle Community respectfully thanks its membership and announces the election of three new members to its Board of Directors. The newly elected board members are Tammy Gaston, Tom Messer, and Ken Piddington. New board members have been elected to a two-year term (2021-2022). Following a comprehensive four-month orientation process to provide new members with the information and resources needed to fulfill their role and responsibilities in the organization and participate as an integral part of the board immediately, new members will take office effective January 1, 2021.

In this session hear how SPPS and Collier IT (CIT) collaborated to build and support Oracle’s PeopleSoft Human Resources and PeopleSoft Financials in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. SPPS is a Minnesota-based public school system and CIT is a technology consulting company, and the two have partnered to successfully migrate SPPS’s PeopleSoft workload to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Learn about its success strategies and lessons learned about the implementation and transition phases. Learn how SPPS leveraged the expertise of CIT to move to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Hear how CIT provided ongoing infrastructure support services to keep SPPS infrastructure up and running.

Enterprise organizations need a modern protection and recovery solution that is capable of quickly recovering databases to any point in time with the least amount of administrative effort from DBAs and backup administrators without impacting the required RPOs/RTOs. This session will focus on how to architect modern business continuity and disaster recovery solutions for business-critical Oracle workloads on VMware Hybrid Cloud environment. This session will also inculcate best practices that need to be taken into consideration when setting BC and DR for critical workloads. In addition to providing disaster recovery, license compliance is another important aspect of setting up an Oracle environment and this session will address how to effectively stay compliant using industry-standard License Management tool.

A funny thing happened on the way to modern, data-driven analytics: we ditched the GUI for ETL development. There are drawbacks to moving data using code instead of clicks, especially for organizations heavily invested in visual tools. But writing code has an upside as well.

In this presentation, we’ll explore the data engineering discipline, and how it compares to conventional ETL. We’ll look at classic batch as well as modern streaming use cases, and consider DataOps requirements around testing and delivery where code really shines. And we’ll do it all inside of an interactive notebook.

With the recent announcement at Oracle OpenWorld, starting in Oracle Database 19c, we are allowed to have up to 3 pluggable databases per container database.  Effective Oracle Database 20c, non-containerized databases will no longer be supported.
